Lenka Vagnerová | Talk Through Your Body
For me, movement begins in the imagination. Dance awakens emotions and communicates beyond the reach of ordinary language—right where words fall short. It has the power to create imagery that speaks openly to the audience.
In my practice, I build upon a deep understanding of the body and its mechanics. Through inner imagery and imagination, we uncover various movement qualities, learning to harness the potential of the physical apparatus and work with its natural dynamics. I seek ways to achieve maximum range and virtuosity through the efficient use of energy—without unnecessary tension or stress. My focus is on lightness, synergy, and conscious bodywork, where the coordination of the mind with our movement subconscious plays a vital role.
The training develops plasticity, teaches work with isolations, an awareness of planes within the body, and the body’s existence in relation to space. It comprehensively engages the muscular system, teaches responsiveness to impulses, and fosters musicality and inner rhythm. Intuition plays a key role—as trust in muscle memory and embodied experience. Crucial to this process is the ability to connect fully with the present moment.
All these principles gain even greater significance in partnering, where mutual listening and trust lead to seamless harmony. Through an understanding of physical laws, partnering becomes a logical and powerful means of communication. Exploring the limits of balance, physical manipulation, and conscious risk then elevates dancing together to a magical plane.
During the workshop, we will enrich our movement possibilities and deepen our intellectual perception of dance. We will explore what dance means to us and what draws us to it, the purpose of training, where a performer’s interpretation begins, and how movement can serve to create a theatrical situation.
